Buchanan Dam is a census-designated place in Llano County, Texas, United States. The population was 1,519 at the 2010 census. Buchanan Dam is located in northeastern Llano County at&nbsp;30&deg;45&prime;52&Prime;N&nbsp;98&deg;27&prime;15&Prime;W&nbsp;(30.764459, -98.454175),&nbsp;on the west and south shores of&nbsp;Lake Buchanan, a reservoir on the&nbsp;Colorado River. The CDP also occupies the south and west shores of&nbsp;Inks Lake, on the Colorado directly downstream from Lake Buchanan. It extends north along Lake Buchanan as far as&nbsp;Bluffton.
Texas State Highway 29&nbsp;passes through the southern part of the CDP, crossing the Colorado River just south of the Buchanan Dam. Highway 29 leads east 13 miles (21&nbsp;km) to&nbsp;Burnet&nbsp;and west 16 miles (26&nbsp;km) to&nbsp;Llano.&nbsp;State Highway 261 leads north from Highway 29 up the west side of Lake Buchanan 8 miles (13&nbsp;km) to Bluffton. As of the&nbsp;census&nbsp;of 2000, there were 1,688 people, 848 households, and 545 families residing in the CDP. The&nbsp;population density&nbsp;was 221.7 people per square mile (85.6/km2). There were 1,294 housing units at an average density of 170.0/sq&nbsp;mi (65.7/km2). The&nbsp;racial makeup&nbsp;of the CDP was 97.16% White, 0.36% African American, 0.06% Native American, 0.06% Asian, 1.48% from other races, and 0.89% from two or more races. Hispanics or Latinos of any race were 5.33% of the population.
Of the 848 households, 11.0% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 57.1% were&nbsp;married couples living together, 4.5% had a female householder with no husband present, and 35.7% were not families. About 31.4% of all households were made up of individuals, and 13.8% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 1.99 and the average family size was 2.43. In the CDP, the population was distributed as 11.9% under the age of 18, 3.7% from 18 to 24, 16.4% from 25 to 44, 35.0% from 45 to 64, and 32.9% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 56 years. For every 100 females, there were 98.6 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 101.5 males.
The median income for a household in the CDP was $32,586, and for a family was $41,216. Males had a median income of $39,286 versus $23,580 for females. The&nbsp;per capita income&nbsp;for the CDP was $25,812. About 5.7% of families and 8.5% of the population were below the&nbsp;poverty line, including 16.5% of those under age 18 and 2.0% of those age 65 or over.

Burnet is a city in and the county seat of Burnet County, Texas, United States. The population was 5,987 at the 2010 census. In December 1847, a company of the Texas Ranger Division commanded by Henry E. McCulloch established a station at the site of present-day Burnet for the protection of frontier settlers from Indian raids. In March 1849, the station was chosen as a federal fort and named Fort Croghan. A town was founded next to Fort Croghan in 1852, when Burnet County was established.
The town was originally named Hamilton after John Hamilton, who owned a league and labor of land nearby. In August 1852 a post office was established in Hamilton and named Burnet Courthouse. In 1857 thirty-five residents of the town petitioned the state legislature to change the name of the town to Burnet since there was another town in Texas named Hamilton. The name was changed in 1858. Major growth occurred with the arrival of the Austin and Northwestern Railroad in April 1882, when Burnet became the railhead for the area to the west. After the railroad was extended to Llano in 1892, Burnet declined as a supply point and became a farming and livestock center. The City of Burnet was incorporated in 1933. The Burnet Bulletin newspaper has served the community since 1873 and is the official paper of record for the city and Burnet County.

Horseshoe Bay is a city in Llano and Burnet counties in the U.S. state of Texas. Situated on Lake Lyndon B. Johnson and the south branch of the Colorado River, it is known in the region for its drag boat racing and other water sports. Prior to its incorporation in September 2005, it was a census-designated place (CDP). The CDP population was 3,337 at the 2000 census. The 2010 census put the population at 3,418. The Llano County portion of Horseshoe Bay is served by the Llano Independent School District. The Burnet County portion is served by the Marble Falls Independent School District.

Kingsland is a census-designated place in Llano County, Texas, United States. The population was 6,030 at the 2010 census. Texas Ranch to Market Road 1431 runs through the community.
